Faking Happy//Grocery Store Daisies

15.00

Another lovely lady of my Floral Femme series. ·        She’s a little less articulate than others, but important nonetheless. Her name is “Faking Happy//Grocery Store Daisy” and she represents that strange but apparently pervasive female feeling of swallowing your grief, stress, and other ailments because someone has presented you with a desperate attempt to make it all better. They grab these weird green, blue, and Jem-pink guys from next to the register at the grocery to try and bring a spark of joy or forgiveness. And you smile and wipe your tears to show gratitude. Which sometimes leads to genuine relief, and sometimes just to compartmentalizing. Partners who pissed you off, friends who don’t know how to sooth your losses, moms and dads who want their kid to feel relief from little girl grief. Those flowers represent this kind of twisted, carnival-colored, unnatural happiness... It’s most certainly a different sensation for every female—a strength gained from shouldering someone else’s feelings, a weirdness from faking, anger at being made to smile through things when men can “suck it up” and be jerks. Or maybe it’s just me....anyone else know what I’m talking about???
